BALTIMORE- The Orioles (43-41) look to rebound from last night's 10-7 loss to the Royals that saw Baltimore blow a four run, sixth inning lead.
The O's host the Rangers (44-42) for a three-game holiday weekend series beginning this afternoon at 4:35 from Camden Yards.
Texas sends Vicente Padilla (10-4, 4.13 ERA) to the hill, while the Orioles counter with Jeremy Guthrie (4-7, 3.50). Guthrie looked good last Sunday going seven innings in Washington giving up just one run in an eventual no-decision.
But Guthrie will be tested today going up against one of the American League's top offenses. The Rangers lead the AL in hitting and runs scored, and are second in home runs (trailing only the White Sox). Center fielder Josh Hamilton has had a lot to do with it, tied for second in the AL with 19 homers on the season. Not bad for a guy making less than $400,000 this year. Ian Kinsler (.323) and Milton Bradley (.320) also rank in the top five for AL hitting.
Offensively for the O's, Aubrey Huff will look to continue his hot play of late. His two home runs last night give him a team-high 17 on the season. Huff has now homered three times in the past two games. He's also driven in four runs in that span, going 4-8 from the plate.
